What to expect

We are the UKE – the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf [Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf]. A pulsating centre of health in the heart of Hamburg. When you are surrounded by that much energy and when progress sets the pace, no two days are the same. More than 14,100 employees with very different responsibilities are united by the same goal: ensuring health and well-being.

The position is to be filled for a period of three years as part of a third-party funded project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The Research project investigates research in the field of experimental psychopathology with a focus on negative emotionality from a meta-scientific perspective. Innovative methods from the field of meta-sciences are used, such as specification curve analyses/ multiverse analyses, sequential sampling and calculations of replicability. The project is based exclusively on existing data and 'open data' and does not require the collection of new data.

The tasks include data processing and data analysis as well as the writing of scientific manuscripts, the supervision and guidance of studentsand interns as well as the documentation of research results.

The position is ideally to be filled as a post-doc position with 100% of the regular weekly working hours, but can also be filled as a doctoral position (75% of the regular weekly working hours) can be assigned. Part-time is also possible. The start date for the position is December 1, 2022 or later. At the latest, however, 04/01/2023.

What we look forward to

We look forward to applications from candidates with a scientific university degree in a relevant subject such as psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, biology or a related discipline.

General requirements:

  • Enthusiasm for interdisciplinary research
  • Interest in integrating basic research and clinical translation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Independent, structured and solution-oriented way of working
  • Ability to work in a team

Specific requirements:

  • Ideally excellent methodological skills and knowledge of statistics
  • Ideally, openness to learning new techniques
  • Programming knowledge in R, MATLAB or Python is mandatory
  • Ideally experience in meta-scientific and/or experimental psychopathology research and evaluation psychophysiological data are beneficial
  • Ideally experience with and/or interest in Open Science
